A BIT ABOUT US
Working Towards a Better Tomorrow
Naandi Community Water Services Pvt. Ltd. (NCWS) is one of India’s largest social enterprises working with a mission to "save lives by providing access to safe drinking water, to underserved communities, in a sustainable manner". Through a nation-wide network of technical and operational experts, NCWS installs and operates a network of decentralised, Community Water Centres (CWCs) in regions where the current sources of drinking water are contaminated and unfit for consumption. Established in 2010 by Naandi Foundation’s trustees and Danone Communities, NCWS brings a winning combination of community mobilization and technical expertise to solving for safe water access to the underserved communities.
Awareness | Community mobilization | Demand for safe drinking water | Sustainability
NCWS’ core belief is that successful community mobilization is central to sustainable safe water projects; accordingly, the organization’s approach emphasizes participatory community involvement through local residents and the development of local capacity in managing and delivering self-sustainable services.
The model is based on a tripartite partnership between a local community, a donor and NCWS. NCWS project manages this partnership, from the selection of the location, procuring the equipment, ensuring quality, awareness building, community engagement, driving behavior change, to training community resources to operate and manage the water center and monitoring.
Three key elements that enable our success are:
Building scalable solutions for providing safe drinking water through operational excellence.
Fostering sustainability by converting beneficiaries into high quality demanding customers of drinking water through a deep understanding of communities and rural aspirations.
Enabling Panchayats to govern and own water solutions.
